Check out a time lapse of the NEW safer road designs on 6th Street (Walnut - Brown) and Walnut (Vel Phillips to 20th) in Milwaukee.

Some elements:

Bus bulbs (buses don't have to merge back into traffic, and it is easier to get on/off bus)

Protected bike/scooter lanes (wide enough to be plowed by snow)

6th Street PROTECTED INTERSECTION - safer for drivers, walkers, and people riding. Offers space for turning drivers to wait as pedestrians cross, while letting traffic flow.

Raised crosswalks

Sorry for no audio! I'm still learning as I go here. The YouTube version has some free audio on it. Let me know if you have questions!

Walnut Street

Lapham Boulevard

In this video, I bike along these sections to show you what the projects currently look like. Walnut is still under construction, so expect some changes. Feel free to mute me if you don't want to hear my endless internal monologue.

I am new to this and hope to offer captions in the future! 😃
