PBOT has a $200k project to move some stripes around on this stretch of street and widen the bike lanes beyond the gutters. Not in the first block which currently has no bike lanes with yellow centerlines. Also not changing anything in the last stretch to meet Barbur. What if they used the yellow paint budget to do good?

A wet ride on the #SuperCargo from Hillsdale in #Portland to almost #Beaverton. Circumventing crash corner at 12:40 by way of the parking lot and a left turn across Scholls Ferry. The first right past Parr Lumber goes up into the neighborhood and you can get through that way but I take the straight shot up the hill on BH-Hwy while the coast is clear, later switching to the sidewalk as traffic catches up and then taking a right after the Fred Meyer on 78th, left on Laurel to cut through a parking lot and a back way in to meet BH-Hwy again at White Pine Lane. This is a few minutes extra vs taking the lane/sidewalk shenanigans, but it's much quieter.

how is the #hillTopper sprinter kit for going up a big hill in a hurry with an empty 110lb #superCargo bike for a 200lb dad in a hurry? Not terrible. But you should get a bigger motor if you want to do this a lot. I'm doing 16mph on the flat/slightly uphill, had been running the motor at max for 2min at that steady pace up Bertha (60ft climbing.) Then another 70ft climbing in about half the time. Would be easier without cars in the way.

This section of Naito from Barbur is almost more terrifying when it's mostly empty like this than when it is stacked with standstill traffic*. There were still 4 cars lined up at the stop sign to Ross Island bridge. Sketchy footage of Mt Hood and crossing the freeway ramps utilizing the crosswalks at 01:44 to get down to S Waterfront. (* I should make a picture-in-picture or side-by-side video of how it's the same speed on a bike every time.)

I usually don't ride this section of Barbur downhill since the bike lanes vanish over the viaducts, but I had gotten distracted and forgotten my route plan a few turns before and it was Sunday. Taking Terwilliger to Capitol takes you down the 30mph sharrows and the flyover ramp to meet this at 02:13. Good news is the flashing lights are working, bad news is the bus lane road diet is at least a decade overdue.

This side street route on 6th off of Terwilliger (south of i5) is maybe a bit steeper at the bottom than going around the curve, but usually seems more pleasant than riding uphill with that car traffic in a painted gutter (which seems to be often neglected, littered with leaves and branches from all of the trees) with poor visibility.

Riding north on SW Terwilliger from Primrose to (almost) Barbur. This connects from the Sellwood Bridge -> cemetery route. I am on the supercargo doing nearly 20, somebody on a recumbent goes down the hill past me doing 30.

#seeYouAtTheNextLight these drivers then follow the sharrows to hell. This entire stretch of Barbur and Naito is such a waste and 100% the mayor's fault, even if it is #ODOT's road. Note the temporary fence where a scooter user (probably) went over the sidewalk, took out the guardrail on their way down the cliff. Also lots of ODOT's #CrosswalkClosed anti-pedestrian infrastructure. Every driver who passes me is on their way to sit in a line of cars. Hey what's with the light timing on Naito? Favoring the unloading of freeways into downtown?
