I'm not actually sure how much of the paths in the first half were private, and not sure if it was actually allowed to bike on the latter half, being a nature reserve. Stayed on the paths though!

This was not a competition, but a big social ride with hundreds of participants either riding in groups, like me, or just individually winging it.

While it was fun, I must say I'm not completely relaxed in these kind of group rides on the roads, due to the danger caused by impatient car drivers, who just must get past even at the expense of everyone's safety. So many near passes with oncoming drivers.

Rode the 100km route and finished 107th out of 150 riders who made it to the goal, so very happy about that. Definitely going next year as well.

Unfortunately I accidentally fumbled on the light on the camera, so it didn't last through the whole ride. I also forgot to click save at the start so that got recorded over, boo.

In Porvoo I made the mistake of starting quite a bit in front, so it was mostly looking at people passing me for the first half an hour. Here I started quite near the back, so there was a lot of fun passing and switching positions early on. Finished 95th out of a total of 160 riders who started. A bit better than in Porvoo, where out of 153 finished at 107.

When I unpacked the video at home I was faced with another problem. I really don't have time to go through and edit hours and hours of video. I kind of just let the files sit on my disk until now, when I finally decided to find a way to compile some kind of highlight of the files. My new camera Cycliq app highlight reel feature kind of gave me the idea of finding a way to randomly rip out a small section of each file and combine them into one file.

Regarding future trips, now that I have the Cycliq always-on camera, I think it will be somewhat easier to just include the interesting parts as it has a button to save the current video clip, instead of needing to switch the camera on and off. The battery life is also way better and it's waterproof. Still of course will need to edit things down into a highlight, I'm thinking some combination of randomizing clips and then editing in some important ones may be the way.

More testing the quality of my new Cycliq Fly12 camera, this time in good daylight. Really impressed! The image stabilization is super and battery life is more than enough so far. I've used it on 3 days now, in both dark (with the light on) and light (light off), and the battery is still 3/4 full after hours of recording.

Have to say the video quality of the Fly12 is really awesome, even not on the highest quality setting. Great stable video and easy to use video lock mechanism, to save the part of the ride one needs to. Hopefully I'll never need the crash auto-detect locking mechanism...

Ride itself was rather slow and steady due to being in pneumonia for two weeks, this was my first ride outside while recovering. Interested to see the video quality in good daylight.

I don't normally use the Hämeentie cycling path, hated probably by both car drivers (because making it took their space away 🤭 😭) but also to some extent cyclists, because it's notorious for both parked cars blocking it and getting really poor maintenance after snow. It's not on my normal routes but today I decided to grab my camera and see exactly how bad it would be after snowfall that had lasted through the night up until the afternoon.

I recently bought an external mic for my SJ6 camera, so this was also a test for that. Works well, all the previous clicking noises from the camera itself have disappeared. On the negative side, the mic seems very to pick up everything really well 😅

I wish the SJ6 had a better battery. I guess will just need to hook up an external battery for longer filmings. Also, it seems I've accumulated a dead pixel I've not at least noticed before 😕

Today in Finland we had a national public transport strike, to protest against the government basically being full of shit heads. Lots of cars queing in traffic, aww. Lots of honking. Lots of people walking about as well. If the cycle paths were actually maintained, maybe there would be more cyclists too.

Kind of a scary video, speed feels worse looking down, and not being able to see where the bike is going in the video is a bit nerving.
