It’s just so counterintuitive, like hearing someone claim that drivers are parking their cars in farmers’ fields instead of parking lots. If it’s happening, it’s a little odd, something we should investigate instead of saying “well, I guess there’s no point in bike lanes”. The city puts them in but never cleans them so there's a whole bunch of debris in them. I often find glass from shattered bottles in the bike lanes and I know I've gotten at least one flat due to a nail I ran over that was in the bike lane.

I should mention we have no protected bike lanes here; they're all Magical Safety Paint. Newer ones are buffered at least, converted from a car lane.
