<description>AI models are increasingly integrating open map data into their data corpus. Should the community leave AI labs to their own devices or help intermediate this interaction? To this end, this talk proposes vector map embedding tiles: a data format that augments open map data with semantic and visual embeddings and lightweight visual-language descriptions derived from imagery. The goal is to demonstrate how open map data can be transformed into on-device AI assets while setting standards on privacy.
